The Canon PGI-550 XL und CLI-551 XL cartridges for Canon Pixma MX 925, MX 725, MG 6350, MG 5450, IP 7250 printers are equipped with a chip. When the cartridge is empty, the chip signals to the printer that the cartridge is empty.

The original chips on the cartridges are replaced with these single-use chips for Canon PGI-550, CLI-551, which then monitor the filling level of the cartridges. The chips are useable once.

Printing capacity of the chips:
Canon PGI-550 BK = 500 pages black
Canon CLI-551 BK = 530 pages photo black
Canon CLI-551 C = 695 pages cyan
Canon CLI-551 M = 680 pages magenta
Canon CLI-551 Y = 695 pages yellow
