The HP 970XL cartridge is equipped with a chip. When the cartridge is empty, the original chip signals to the printer that the cartridge is empty. If you refill the cartridge, it can only be used if the original chip has not expired or been damaged.
The original chip on the cartridge is replaced with this chip for HP 970XL, which then monitors the filling level of the cartridge. The chip is useable once. When it has counted down to zero, it has to be replaced again.
The useful life of the chip is 2 years. The chip is usable once and has a capacity of approx. 9,200 pages.
