The inks are dispensed from the ink bottle and refilled into the internal tanks of HP printer models Smart Tank 500, Smart Tank 510 Series, Smart Tank 524, Smart Tank 530, Smart Tank 580 Series, Smart Tank 610 Series, Smart Tank 670 Series, Smart Tank 720 Series, DeskJet GT 5800 Series, Ink Tank Wireless 315 and Ink Tank Wireless 410 Series using the refill syringe.
HP printer models have four separate, built-in ink tanks. The ink is refilled into these reservoirs using a refill syringe. The three individual tanks for cyan, magenta, and yellow are usually arranged in a group at the front left corner of the printer, while the individual tank for black is located at the front right corner (see picture 1). In a few exceptions the four individual tanks are located on the right side of the printer (see picture 2).

To refill HP GT51, GT52 and GT53 inks, open the front cover of your printer. This provides access to the ink tank caps. Each tank is sealed with a hinged mechanism and attached rubber stopper. Flip the cap forward, and the tank to be filled is open (see picture 3).

We recommend refilling HP GT51, GT52, and GT53 compatible ink using the refill syringe or original HP ink bottles. This procedure is the only way to refill the new ink tank printers; it is the only way to do it at all and is more precise and safe in terms of cleanliness during filling. When using original ink bottles: Pour the desired ink color into the correct original bottle and fill the ink tank. Always follow the color of the cap on the ink tank as a guide. This way you can ensure that you are actually filling the correct ink color into the correct ink tank. To ensure you are filling the correct amount, always keep an eye on the ink tank's viewing window. This makes it easy to see the fill level and prevents the tank from overfilling. Always refill ink in a timely manner. This prevents air bubbles from getting into the ink lines connected to the tanks. It is very time-consuming to remove these air pockets from the lines. At the same time, these air pockets can cause damage to the print heads of the connected cartridges.
