The Brother LC-223, LC-225, LC-227 and partially LC-229 cartridge series is used in the DCP-J 4120, MFC-J 4420, MFC-J 4425, MFC-J 4620, MFC-J 4625, MFC-J 5320 and MFC-J 5720 printers. The black Innobella inks are pigmented. The three colors cyan, magenta and yellow are dye inks. Each of these Brother cartridges has a chip to monitor the fill level and identify the cartridge in the printer. We provide here the refill instructions using refill tool or syringe and explain the cartridge design, how to handle the chip and its messages. For resetting the chip, we also provide instructions below.
The printer is shipped with only short-range cartridges. Cartridges are also offered as XL variants for additional purchase. In detail, the following original ink cartridges are available on the market for these Brother printer types:
The Brother LC-227 XL and LC-229 XL printer cartridges cannot be used in all printers for which the remaining cartridges work. At the time of writing, the LC-227 run in the Brother Brother MFC-J 4425 DW, MFC-J 4625 DW, DCP-J 4120 DW, MFC-J 4620 DW, MFC-J 4420 DW devices.
The LC-229 only run in the Brother MFC-J 5320 DW, J 5600 Series, J 5620 DW, J 5625 DW, J 5720 DW G printers.
